Overview
UAE ScamShield helps users review suspicious messages by importing screenshots or pasting text for scam-risk analysis.
Information Processed
Depending on how you use the app, UAE ScamShield may process:
- text you paste into the app
- text extracted on-device from screenshots using OCR
- message analysis results, such as risk score, explanation, and detected links
- recent scan history stored locally on your device
- shared screenshot handoff metadata used to pass a screenshot from the share extension to the main app
How Screenshot Processing Works
When you import or share a screenshot:
- the screenshot image is processed on-device for text recognition
- extracted text is placed into the app for analysis
- the app may analyze the extracted text using local heuristics and/or a backend service
Backend Analysis
UAE ScamShield may send extracted text to the configured backend service to return:
- risk score
- explanation
- detected domains or signals
- suggested next steps
Do not paste or submit information unless you are comfortable having the extracted text processed for analysis.
Local Storage
The app may store limited data locally on your device, including:
- recent scan history
- onboarding completion state
- share-extension handoff state for a shared screenshot
Notifications
If enabled, the app may send local notifications on your device to let you know an analysis result is ready.
Data Sharing
The app is not intended to sell your personal information.
Retention
Local history remains on your device until you clear it or remove the app. Backend retention depends on the server configuration and operational logging policy.
Security
Reasonable steps should be taken to protect transmitted and stored data, including HTTPS for backend communication and secure server handling.
Children
The app is not specifically directed to children.
Your Choices
- avoid submitting sensitive text
- clear local history from within the app when supported
- stop using screenshot sharing or notifications
- remove the app to delete locally stored app data, subject to iOS behavior
